
As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, the total water stock in the seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai reached 1,069,357 million litres on Tuesday. This is 73.88 per cent of the total required stock for the season.
Mumbai’s seven key lakes, Upper Vaitarna, Modak Sagar, Tansa, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Vihar, and Tulsi, collectively hold 10.69 lakh million litres (ML) of useful water content, translating to 73.88 per cent of their full live storage capacity.
Among these, Bhatsa leads with 4.6 lakh ML (64.21 per cent) and Modak Sagar is at 100 per cent capacity. Middle Vaitarna follows with 1.79 lakh ML (92.87 per cent), while Upper Vaitarna holds 1.68 lakh ML (74.02 per cent).
The remaining lakes show lower percentages: Tansa at 79.13 per cent, Vihar at 48.36 per cent, and Tulsi at 49.79 per cent.
Notably, Middle Vaitarna saw a drop of 0.11 meters in the past 24 hours, while Bhatsa rose by 0.25 meters.
Total rainfall recorded across all catchment areas so far this season is 1308.80 mm, with no significant rain reported in the last 24 hours at most lakes. The report notes that Modak Sagar began overflowing on July 9, and Upper Vaitarna has been releasing water since July 5.
Mumbai Weather Updates: City and suburbs to see light to moderate rain
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, Mumbai is expected to experience a generally cloudy sky with occasional light to moderate rainfall across the city and suburbs.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively, as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per the tide forecast, a high tide of 4.31 meters is anticipated at 12:40 PM today, followed by a low tide of 1.89 meters at 6:46 PM.
Later, a high tide of 3.75 meters is expected at 12:27 AM on July 12, 2025, and a low tide of 0.59 meters at 6:15 AM the same day.
Residents, especially those in low-lying areas, are advised to remain cautious during high tide hours.
