Jungkook apologises but stands by actions, fans reject his apology

Jungkook has addressed the controversy surrounding his earlier livestream, offering an apology while also making it clear that he does not believe his actions were entirely wrong. His statement, however, has sparked mixed reactions among fans, with many choosing not to accept his apology.

The controversy dates back to a February 2026 livestream on Weverse, where Jungkook appeared to be drinking and spoke candidly about personal topics. During the broadcast, he used casual language, including profanity, and made gestures that some viewers found inappropriate. The livestream was later taken down, but clips continued to circulate online, fueling debate.

Jungkook addresses the recent controversy

Addressing the issue in a recent live session, Jungkook apologised to those who felt uncomfortable, acknowledging that his behaviour may have caused concern. At the same time, he maintained his stance, saying he didn’t think he was entirely in the wrong. His response reflected a balance between taking responsibility and standing by his intent.

He also spoke about wanting to express himself freely, hinting at the pressures idols face when communicating with fans. Despite the backlash, Jungkook’s tone remained calm and reflective, as he attempted to explain the situation from his perspective.

Interestingly, fan reactions have not followed a typical pattern. While controversies often lead to criticism, a large section of BTS’ fandom, ARMY, has defended Jungkook and even rejected his apology. Many fans argued that he did not need to apologise at all, viewing the livestream as a rare, honest moment rather than something problematic.

Others, however, felt that the situation highlighted the fine line public figures must navigate between authenticity and responsibility. The debate has since grown into a broader discussion about idol behaviour, personal freedom, and fan expectations in the K-pop industry.

How the fans reacted

The incident comes at a time when BTS is actively promoting new music and reconnecting with fans after a period of group hiatus. As one of the group’s most prominent members, Jungkook’s actions are often closely scrutinised, making even candid moments subject to widespread attention.

While the controversy continues to generate discussion online, it also underscores the evolving relationship between artists and their audiences. Jungkook’s response part apology, part defence has added another layer to that conversation.

For now, the situation remains unresolved, with opinions divided. Whether seen as a misstep or a moment of honesty, the episode highlights the complexities of life under constant public scrutiny for global stars like Jungkook.
