The makers of director Nelson Dilipkumar’s eagerly awaited upcoming film, featuring Tamil cinema superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan in the lead, recently dropped a brilliant promo for the film. The upcoming project will reunite the two superstars on screen after nearly four decades. Therefore, excitement for the film is at its peak even before it goes on floors. However, the promo video also led some people to accuse the makers of using AI to create it. The team reacted to the rumours by releasing a BTS (behind-the-scenes) video.
Is KHxRK promo AI-made?
Days after the promo drop, producer Red Giant Movies released a making video in which the superstars can be seen in action. In the clip, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are seen discussing scenes and frames with director Nelson. “Lights. Camera. Action. A sneak peek into the making of #KHxRK promo,” they wrote while posting the video.
The film, tentatively referred to as #KHxRK, has music by Anirudh Ravichander and will see Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan sharing screen space after almost 47 years.
What is the promo about?
The promo begins with Nelson standing in a hotel corridor, wondering whose room he should enter first. Music director Anirudh, humming a tune, approaches him and holds out two fingers, asking Nelson to “touch one.” When Nelson asks what it is for, Anirudh responds, “Shanmughapriya or Kokilapriya?”
In his trademark innocent style, Nelson asks, “Heroines?” Anirudh, with a condescending look, replies, “They are raagas.” He then adds, “Let’s go with Karagarapriya; my voice isn’t alright,” and walks away. Nelson remarks that though he knows music and feels slightly cheated, he likes the two-finger technique and decides to follow it. He picks a finger and enters Room No. 7, which is revealed to be Kamal Haasan’s room.
Though Kamal is not fully visible, he is seen choosing a blazer. When Nelson says, “Super sir, Rajini sir also selected this,” Kamal immediately switches his choice. Nelson then visits Rajinikanth’s room, where the superstar changes his shoe selection upon hearing that Kamal preferred the same pair.
Eventually, both stars step out of their rooms simultaneously in retro looks. They get into a car, with Nelson and Anirudh seated in the back. Anirudh says, “Sirs, there is a theme music ready that sounds like Beethoven mixed with Bappi Lahiri. Shall we listen to it?” Kamal responds, “We’ll listen to that later. First, we need to ask something. Who is the hero?” Rajinikanth reiterates the question, leaving Nelson perplexed as the car zooms away.
The film is being produced by Red Giant Movies and will have cinematography by ace director and cameraman Rajeev Menon.
