In the last 24 hours, Thane city recorded 115.79 mm of rainfall, leading to widespread waterlogging, tree falls, and flooding in low-lying areas, said Yasin Tadvi, Chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell. Similar conditions were reported in Palghar, where several areas were submerged due to continuous downpours.
Authorities in both districts have urged residents to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary and to avoid risky areas like riverbanks. District collectors are closely monitoring the situation, with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and other rescue personnel on standby to respond to any emergencies.
As the rainfall continues, civic bodies are on high alert, and the public has been advised to follow official updates and avoid spreading or acting on rumours.
