​Fire breaks out in Thane building, damages 18 electrical meters 

A fire broke out in the meter box room of a three-storey residential building in Maharashtra`s Thane city on Tuesday morning, damaging 18 meters, officials said, reported news agency PTI.

No person was injured in the incident, they said.

The blaze was reported in the meter box room located on the ground floor of the Shri Lakshmi Apartment near Kalwa Station Road at 7.28 am, Thane Municipal Corporation`s disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said, reported PTI.

After being alerted, the disaster management team, fire brigade personnel and the private power supplying company staff rushed to the spot.

A preliminary inspection indicated that 18 meters were damaged in the incident, the official said.

The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes, he said, adding the cause of the fire was yet to be determined. 

Fire erupts at business park in Ghatkopar; no casualty reported

In another incident, a major fire broke out in a nine-storey business park in Mumbai`s Ghatkopar area on Monday afternoon, officials said, reported PTI.

There was so far no report of any casualty, they said.

The blaze was reported in the nine-storey business park, located on LBS Road near Shreyas Talkies in Ghatkopar (West), at 2.35 pm, the official said, reported PTI.

As per preliminary information, the blaze was confined to the ground floor of the commercial building, a civic official said, reported PTI.

“Seven fire engines were rushed to the spot. Further details from the spot are awaited,” a fire brigade official said.

Fire erupts at several auto parts shops in Mumbai; no casualty

Meanwhile, a major fire broke out in several automobile spare parts and scrap material shops in Mumbai`s Kurla area in the early hours of Monday, officials said, reported PTI.

No casualty was reported so far, they said.

The blaze was reported at 2.42 am in 15 to 20 shops located near a gurdwara on CST Road in Kurla (West), the officials said, reported PTI.

The fire was confined to stocks of automobile spare parts, electric wiring and installations, tyres, and scrap material, an official said, reported PTI.

At least four fire engines, 10 jumbo water tankers and several other fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the spot, the officials said, adding that firefighting operations were underway.
