Dacoit: Adivi Sesh reveals the inspiration behind his character Hari

Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur’s Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha is generating strong buzz ahead of its release this week. The trailer gives a glimpse into Sesh’s character Hari, highlighting his vulnerability and simmering anger, making him intriguing to his fans.

Adivi Sesh reveals the inspiration behind his character Hari

Speaking about the inspiration behind the character, Sesh shared, “I’m personally drawn to Hari because I wrote the character with my best friend, Shaneil Deo. He’s an amalgamation of different people I’ve met. He represents the many downtrodden individuals in society and what happens when their struggles turn into anger. At the same time, I wanted him to remain a pure soul, someone who wears his heart on his sleeve. The moment he feels something, you’ll see it on his face. Hari is an open book. But the intention was to make him an amazing book.”

He further emphasized that the emotional core of the film lies in the relationship between his character and Mrunal Thakur’s, highlighting how love, when fractured and left unresolved, can evolve into anger and betrayal.

Adivi Sesh reveals he performed most stunts himself

The trailer of the film, which was unveiled on April 4th, showed us exactly what to expect from the Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur-starrer. The two-minute-54-second promo was all about car chases, heists, and action.

The actor shared, “Dacoit has some intense car chase sequences, and many of them were filmed with me [behind the wheel]. When you’re inside the car, surrounded by cameras, stunt coordinators, and a tightly planned set-up, you realise how much precision is required to get it right. These are the kinds of action sequences where you can’t afford too many retakes because every movement, skid, and turn has been carefully designed.”

Marking Shaneil Deo’s directorial debut, the ambitious project is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, co-produced by Suniel Narang, and presented by Annapurna Studios. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, the film’s story and screenplay have been jointly crafted by Sesh and Shaneil Deo. The film stars Anurag Kashyap as the antagonist and Zayn Marie Khan as a police officer.

Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha is all set for a grand pan-India bilingual theatrical release on 10th April 2026.
