​CM Fadnavis to inaugurate Metro Lines 9 and 2B, launch twin tunnel and pod taxi 

In a major infrastructure push for the city, Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate Metro Lines 9 and 2B and launch the twin tunnel project for the Thane–Borivali corridor on Tuesday, April 7. The CM will also take part in the groundbreaking ceremony of the city’s first pod taxi project.

The events, which will also be attended by Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, are expected to significantly enhance Mumbai’s public transport network, ease traffic congestion, and improve connectivity across the city and its suburbs.

Schedule 

Metro Line-9 (Phase 1) will be inaugurated at Dahisar East Metro Station at 10 am  
Metro Line 2B (Phase 1) and e-groundbreaking ceremony of the pod taxi project will be held at Diamond Garden Metro Station in Chembur at 12.30 pm

The launch of the Thane–Borivali twin tunnel project with tunnel boring machine (TBM) will be held at Manpada in at 11.30 am. 

Metro Line-9, connecting Dahisar East and Mira Bhayandar, has been reported ready for inauguration, marking a key milestone in the city’s transport expansion. The Thane–Borivali twin tunnel project, using advanced TBM technology, aims to streamline traffic and boost metro efficiency along the congested corridor.

The pod taxi project, being introduced as a pilot initiative, is expected to offer a modern, eco-friendly alternative for last-mile connectivity, further easing pressure on Mumbai’s roads.
