​Mumbai weather: Clear skies, hot weather in city; AQI remains `Satisfactory` 

Mumbai on Friday witnessed mainly clear skies across the city and suburbs on Friday as the city continued to witness hot weather conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting maximum and minimum temperatures of around 35 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Meanwhile, the city’s air quality remained in the satisfactory category, with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 88, according to the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer App. But, Andheri East recorded high pollution  levels on Friday morning.

AQI across Mumbai

Across monitoring stations, Bandra Kurla Complex recorded an AQI of 91, while Borivali East stood at 98 and Byculla at 76. Colaba reported relatively cleaner air at 64, and Mulund West at 83.

However, several areas fell under the moderate category, including Andheri East (121), Deonar (118), Bandra East (115), Kurla (110), and Malad West (102). Chembur recorded an AQI of 84.

State reels under heatwave-like conditions; Parbhani hottest at 40.2 degrees Celsius

Maharashtra continues to experience warm conditions, with several regions recording above-normal temperatures. Interior parts of the state are witnessing higher heat levels compared to coastal areas, according to the latest IMD weather report.  

Hottest areas of Maharashtra

Parbhani emerged as the hottest location, recording a maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Jalgaon (39.5 degrees Celsius) and Sholapur (39.4 degrees Celsius). Other cities such as Aurangabad (38.5 degrees Celsius), Jeur (38.5 degrees Celsius), and Malegaon (38.6 degrees Celsius) also reported high temperatures, indicating a broader warming trend across central Maharashtra.

Mumbai temperatures

According to the weather report, temperatures in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region remained relatively moderate. Mumbai Santacruz recorded a maximum of 35.1 degrees Celsius, while Colaba reported 32.6 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures in the city hovered between 24.7 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, reflecting warm and humid conditions.

Coastal region temperatures

Coastal areas like Alibag (33.6 degrees Celsius) and Dahanu (32.9 degrees Celsius) stayed comparatively cooler, aided by sea breeze influence. Meanwhile, hill station Mahabaleshwar recorded a pleasant 30.9 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 19.8 degrees Celsius.

Humidity levels in Maharashtra

Humidity levels varied across the state, with coastal regions such as Ratnagiri (72 per cent in the morning) and Mumbai (around 64 to 68 per cent) experiencing higher moisture levels. Interior regions like Aurangabad and Jalgaon saw lower humidity, contributing to drier heat conditions.

Overall, temperatures across Maharashtra remain above normal in many regions, with hot days and warm nights expected to persist.
