Legendary singer Asha Bhosle died on Sunday afternoon at the age of 92. As tributes poured in for the late singer from the film and music fraternity, former Bollywood actress and model Athiya Shetty faced massive backlash on social media.
Athiya Shetty shares Lata Mangeshkar`s photo in tribute to Asha Bhosle
Athiya seemingly posted the image of the late Lata Mangeshkar while remembering Asha Bhosle. Netizens were quick to notice and point out the error, as Mangeshkar had already passed away on February 6, 2022.
Although Athiya quickly deleted the photo of the late Lata Mangeshkar following the goof-up, screenshots of the post quickly went viral on social media. Several users began criticising her and questioning how she could make such an error, given her background in a Bollywood family of Suniel Shetty. Notably, Athiya did not address the goof-up publicly; she deleted the story and later shared a separate post grieving the loss of Asha Bhosle as a tribute to the legendary singer.
Asha Bhosle`s funeral is set to take place on Monday, April 13. Her mortal remains will be kept for public viewing from 11 am at her residence, Casa Grande in Lower Parel. Her last rites will be performed later at 4 pm at Shivaji Park.
Netizens slam Athiya Shetty
Netizens quickly noticed Athiya`s error and began sharing screenshots of the same, with some calling it `embarrassing` while others called her `beauty without brain.`
One user on X wrote, “Athiya Shetty Is Beauty Without Brains She posted a story with photo of Late Lata Mangeshkar instead of Late Asha Bhosle. Nepo kids just want to be relevant somehow, without hardwork or struggle and that`s why their movies flop and they make such blunders.” Meanwhile, another added, “Athiya Shetty gone mad She uploaded a picture of Lata Mangeshkar instead of Asha Bhosle.”
A third user went on to say, “It’s really sad to see how careless people can be on serious matters. Athiya Shetty shared a photo of Lata Mangeshkar ji while mourning Asha Bhosle ji is not just a small mistake; it shows a lack of attention. The least one can do is check before posting, especially in such moments. Just post a simple condolence message if your basic knowledge is zero.”
