Are photos of long queues for LPG in Mumbai, Delhi AI-generated: Sanjay Raut

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Centre, questioning its claims that the LPG supply situation is under control and asking whether widely circulated images of long queues in cities like Mumbai and Delhi were “AI-generated,” reported news agency IANS.

Raut questions government’s claims on LPG availability

Addressing reporters, Raut criticised the government for what he described as a disconnect from ground realities, alleging that a shortage of LPG cylinders is severely affecting daily life across several regions.

“Are the photos of long queues in Mumbai and Delhi AI-generated?” he asked, taking a swipe at official claims that there is no crisis, reported IANS.

He compared the situation to a failed system where assurances are being given despite visible distress, suggesting that the reality on the ground contradicts government statements.

Claims of widespread impact on businesses and daily life

Raut highlighted the impact of the alleged shortage on small businesses and public services, claiming that nearly 50 per cent of vada pav stalls in Mumbai have shut down due to lack of LPG supply, reported IANS.

He further stated that school and college canteens are struggling to function, while around 40 per cent of restaurants in the city are facing operational challenges, reported IANS.

According to him, the shortage is directly affecting the common man and disrupting routine economic activity.

Religious institutions also affected, says Raut

The Rajya Sabha MP also claimed that the impact has extended to religious institutions. He alleged that a long-running free meal service at the Annapurna Temple in Varanasi has been halted due to the shortage.

Similarly, he said that prasad distribution in Shirdi has been reduced, urging the government to prioritise LPG supply to essential institutions such as temples, schools and ashrams.

Political attack on ruling alliance

Raut also used the opportunity to target Maharashtra’s ruling alliance, making sarcastic remarks about recent political developments and leadership dynamics, reported IANS.

Referring to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s visit to Delhi, he alleged that factions within the state’s political landscape were influenced by central leadership, adding that such meetings were therefore unsurprising.

Raises concerns over regional development and governance

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader further accused the state government of unfair distribution of development funds, stressing that regions like Marathwada and Vidarbha require urgent attention, reported IANS.

He said that developmental backlog in these regions should be addressed irrespective of political affiliations of local representatives.

Raut also raised concerns about the functioning of legislative institutions, stating that presiding officers must remain neutral and uphold democratic principles without political bias.

Comments on broader issues and international developments

When asked about recent remarks made by NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad, Raut declined to comment, saying the public had already responded.

He also briefly touched upon international developments, alleging that recent actions by the United States regarding the Chabahar Port project were unfavourable to India.

Raut concluded by reiterating his criticism of the government, accusing it of failing to acknowledge pressing issues affecting citizens and calling for greater accountability and transparency.
