The Maharashtra government is set to host the second edition of its flagship capacity-building initiative, Tech Wari 2.0, from May 4 to 8 at Mantralaya, bringing together thousands of government employees and experts from diverse fields in a large-scale learning exercise.
Massive participation expected across physical and digital platforms
According to officials, more than 6,000 employees will participate in person, while nearly nine lakh government employees are expected to join the programme through live streaming. The initiative aims to create a unified learning experience across departments, combining physical sessions with digital outreach to maximise participation.
Focus on future-ready governance and skill development
The programme, part of the broader “Journey Towards Future-Ready Governance” initiative, will see technologists, policymakers, artists, wellness practitioners and subject experts conduct sessions on a wide range of topics. These include digital governance, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, ethics in governance and emerging technologies such as quantum computing.
Additional Chief Secretary V. Radha said the initiative goes beyond technical training and focuses on holistic development. She emphasised that areas such as meditation, yoga, mindfulness, music and art have been integrated into the programme to ensure well-rounded growth of government employees.
Learning model inspired by collective effort and discipline
Drawing a parallel with the traditional pilgrimage to Pandharpur, Radha said the programme reflects the spirit of collective effort, resilience and continuous progress. She described Tech Wari 2.0 as a structured journey in which government employees steadily build knowledge and skills to adapt to changing governance needs.
She added that the initiative represents a large-scale effort to prepare the state’s administrative workforce for future challenges, calling it a high-speed onboarding process into modern governance practices.
Previous learning drive saw record participation
The announcement follows the successful completion of a state-wide learning initiative held in April 2026, during which over 8.8 lakh government employees completed structured training modules on the iGOT Karmayogi platform.
Officials said participants collectively logged around 35 lakh hours of learning in just one week, covering subjects such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, law and public policy. The training progress was tracked in real time, with recognition provided through official certification.
Leadership push to prioritise capacity building
The initiative has received strong backing from Devendra Fadnavis, who has prioritised employee development as a key governance objective, along with Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal.
Officials said a key feature of Tech Wari 2.0 is its accessibility, with expert-led sessions being delivered directly to employees at their workplace, rather than requiring them to travel for training.
