Raaka: Allu Arjun starrer triggers bidding war in UP-Bihar, prices hit high

The upcoming pan-India film Raaka, starring Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone, is already making headlines months before its release not for its teaser or music, but for the unprecedented demand surrounding its distribution rights. Directed by Atlee, the big-budget project has triggered a bidding war in key North Indian territories, particularly Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Raaka sees high demand in UP-Bihar

As reported by HT , several distributors from the Hindi belt have aggressively approached the makers to secure exclusive rights for these regions. What makes this situation remarkable is the scale of offers being quoted. Sources indicate that the prices being discussed are “unprecedented,” reflecting the immense confidence exhibitors have in the film’s box office potential. This surge in demand highlights how Raaka is already being viewed as a major commercial event.

A key factor driving this frenzy is Allu Arjun’s massive popularity in North India. Over the past few years, the actor has cultivated a strong fan base beyond the Telugu-speaking audience, especially in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand. His blockbuster films, particularly the Pushpa franchise, have performed exceptionally well in these regions, contributing to a growing appetite for his films in the Hindi market.

All about Raaka

The success of Pushpa: The Rise and its sequel not only cemented his nationwide appeal but also reshaped distribution strategies. The Hindi version of the first film crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, while its sequel reportedly delivered even bigger numbers, with significant contributions from the northern circuits.  This track record has led distributors to anticipate a similar if not bigger response for Raaka.

Adding to the film’s appeal is its scale and cross-industry collaboration. With Atlee at the helm, known for delivering mass entertainers, and Deepika Padukone playing a pivotal role, the film is positioned as a pan-India spectacle designed to resonate across linguistic and regional boundaries.

The makers are planning a multi-language release, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, further expanding its reach. This wide release strategy, combined with star power and strong pre-release buzz, has made Raaka one of the most anticipated films in recent times.

While the film is still in production, the intense competition for distribution rights signals the industry’s high expectations. If the current momentum continues, Raaka could set new benchmarks not just at the box office, but also in how pre-release business is conducted in Indian cinema.
