‘Outright theft’: Celebs react strongly to Jana Nayagan leak controversy 

The leak of Jana Nayagan has triggered a massive backlash across the Indian film industry, with several prominent actors and filmmakers uniting to condemn piracy and urge audiences to avoid watching leaked content.

The controversy erupted after a portion and reportedly the full film was leaked online ahead of release, prompting outrage from across industries. Sonu Sood expressed deep concern over the incident, calling it “heartbreaking” and highlighting the emotional and financial toll such leaks take on an entire team’s hard work.

Echoing similar sentiments, Suriya described the leak as “heartbreaking and unfair,” urging fans not to engage with pirated versions and instead support the film legally. His appeal was part of a larger call within the industry to respect cinema and the effort behind it.

Rishab Shetty strongly condemned the act, calling it “unacceptable” and stressing that piracy undermines the integrity of filmmaking. He appealed to audiences to stand against such practices and respect the creative process.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj reportedly stated that piracy “shatters the dreams of thousands,” underlining how leaks impact not just stars but entire crews working behind the scenes. His comments reinforced the idea that film piracy is not a victimless act.

Varun Tej also weighed in, calling the leak “outright theft” and a “complete betrayal,” reflecting the anger shared by many in the industry. Several others, including Rajinikanth, termed the incident a moment of “shock and pain,” while demanding strict action against those responsible.

Additionally, filmmakers like A. R. Murugadoss, Karthi, Pa. Ranjith and Raghava Lawrence have also slammed the leak, urging authorities to take strict action and calling for stronger measures to curb piracy.

The leak has once again highlighted the ongoing issue of digital piracy in cinema, with industry voices coming together in rare unity. From actors to directors, the message is clear respect the hard work behind films and reject piracy in all forms.

Earlier, even Vijay Deverakonda, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan also reacted to the piracy controversy. Actress, Pooja Hegde who is also the part of the film reacted to it and asked fans to watch the film the right way.
