Anshumaan Pushkar gets candid about playing a launda dancer in series Satrangi

Intense stories seem to be following Anshumaan Pushkar. The actor, who was last seen in the third season of Delhi Crime, will now be fronting
Satrangi — Badle Ka Khel, which explores themes of identity, societal pressures, and the cost of vengeance. In the upcoming Zee5 series, the actor plays the son of a launda dancer. Launda naach is a traditional folk dance from Bihar that sees men dressing up as women and performing.

Directed by Jai Basantu Singh, Satrangi tells the story of Pushkar’s Bablu, who is forced by circumstances to step into his father’s shoes. For the actor, it was both a challenge and a creative high to represent a community that is often discriminated against.

“Satrangi gave me the chance to step into the shoes of a character that comes from a world and profession, which is often misunderstood and unfairly looked down upon. As an actor, it was enriching to explore this social reality with honesty and empathy, without judgment or exaggeration. The role challenged me to rely on internal strength, emotional control, and lived-in performances,” the actor told mid-day.

The show also stars popular content creator RJ Mahvash, who said, “The gritty tone of Satrangi allowed me to explore a more dramatic space as a performer.”
