Vishal condemns Rajendra Prasad’s remarks on MGR, urges apology

Producer, director, and actor Vishal has strongly condemned Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad for his recent comment on iconic Tamil star and leader MGR, urging the veteran Telugu actor to tender an apology for his demeaning remarks. Rajendra Prasad, during the course of his speech at an event, heaped praise on veteran Telugu actor Kanta Rao. To highlight Kanta Rao`s significance, he made a comment that demeaned legendary Tamil actor and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran, popularly known as MGR.

Vishal slams Rajendra Prasad

Tamil actor Vishal took to his X timeline to condemn Rajendra Prasad`s comments on MGR. He wrote, “Shocking and repelling to see and hear the recent comments of senior actor Shri Rajendra Prasad, senior actor of our Telugu film industry, at a recent function.”

He told Rajendra Prasad, “Dear Sir, with utmost regards and at the same time with a heavy heart, I pen down this tweet condemning your speech about our late legendary actor, the one and only MGR, who has not only been a legendary actor but also a great leader in Tamil Nadu. Your speech about another legendary actor, Shri Kanta Rao garu, praising him is a lovely gesture, but at the same time, bringing down and demeaning another legendary actor, #MGR ayya, who is still remembered forever, is not going down well with the sentiments of our people.”

Vishal further said, “I request you to kindly put an end to this in a way that you know best, which is a must and most important at this point.” He went on to seek an apology politely, adding, “My apologies to you to mention that you tender an apology to this issue, since I, as an actor, would do the same if someone in the future speaks ill about an actor of your stature. Hoping in good faith, God Bless.”

What did Rajendra Prasad say about MGR

MGR is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in post-independence Indian politics and cinema. Revered by millions of Tamilians as Puratchi Thalaivar, he continues to command deep respect decades after his passing.

While addressing the gathering in Hyderabad, Rajendra Prasad said, “MGR was scared of Kantha Rao and would wet his pants whenever he saw or knew about Kantha Rao.” He was widely criticised for his tone and speech.
