Television actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee has opened up about the question many new mothers often face, when they plan to return to work. The actor recently shared an emotional note on social media, explaining why she has chosen to focus entirely on motherhood for now.
Devoleena, best known for her role in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, revealed that although work has always been an important part of her life, she currently wants to devote all her time and attention to her son, Joy. According to the actor, this phase of motherhood is something she had long wished for, and she wants to cherish every moment of it.

Addressing the repeated questions about resuming work, Devoleena wrote, “Have you stopped working?” “When are you starting again?” “You should get back to work now.” She added that these are questions she hears quite often.
The actor acknowledged that such queries come from a place of curiosity and concern, but explained that her priorities have naturally shifted after becoming a mother. “I understand where they come from. Work has always been a big part of my life, and I’ve always believed in giving 100 percent to whatever I do. But today, life has given me a role that asks for even more, motherhood,” she shared.
Expressing her emotions about this new chapter, Devoleena said the small moments she spends with her baby mean the world to her. “These are the moments I once prayed for. The little giggles, the tiny milestones, the comfort my child finds in my arms,” she wrote.
The actor further explained that if she has always believed in giving her best to everything in life, motherhood deserves even more dedication. “If I’ve always believed in giving my best to everything in life, then motherhood deserves not just 100 percent… it deserves 500 precent,” she said.
For Devoleena, choosing to stay present for her child is a conscious and heartfelt decision. “Right now, my son needs me more than anything else. And choosing to be present for him is a decision I make with love and without any apology,” she added.
All about her little munchkin Joy
While she is currently focused on raising her baby, the actor reassured fans that she has not stepped away from work permanently. She believes that when the right time arrives, she will naturally return to her professional commitments.
“I know when the time is right, work will find its place again. But this phase… this beautiful, fleeting phase… belongs to my baby. And I’m not willing to compromise on that,” she wrote.
For those unaware, Devoleena married Shanawaz Shaikh in a private ceremony on December 14, 2022. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Joy, in December 2024.
