Singer PIA reveals her new track Zukacoa is inspired by video games

PIA’s new EDM track Zukacoa plays out like an immersive world. That effect is deliberate. The artiste and director Joe Sill have sought inspiration from games like The Legend of Zelda and Bloodborne to shape its visual world. “Video games taught me that storytelling is atmospheric. In Zelda, the emotional arc is embedded in the world design. In Bloodborne, you earn the mythology by paying attention,” said PIA.

Video games influence her writing as well, as she built layers of metaphors in the song. “I begin with the what and the why. Then I translate it into something immersive,” said PIA, who previously collaborated with Japanese singer Inoran. That gave her further confidence in her work. “Seeing ideas developed and refined at that level set a high standard for how I approach my work.”
