Choreographer Bosco Martis opens up about 25 years in the industry

Marking 25 years as a choreographer in the Hindi film industry, Bosco Martis says the milestone has pushed him to create something deeply personal. “After 25 years, you start feeling the need to create your own world. Your own visual language. You’ve spent decades helping shape other people’s visions; at some point, you want to build one that’s entirely yours,” he tells mid-day.

That instinct became Downtown, a high-energy dance track imagined as a moody cityscape. “The first image was a lonely street with a skyline shimmering in the distance. There’s glitz and glamour, but it’s seen from the shadows.”

Reuniting with Tiger Shroff added scale. “With a star like Tiger, the frame automatically expands. He brings physicality, discipline, and that larger-than-life quality.”

Bosco also acknowledges global pop influences. Referencing Michael Jackson, he says, “He wasn’t just about choreography; he built worlds. That sense of atmosphere and storytelling through movement has always been inspiring.”
