Have you heard? Arijit Singh releases first song post retirement

Defining success

Shreya Ghoshal

Singer Shreya Ghoshal has said that social media metrics do not define a song’s true success, insisting that live audience response is the real measure. “Those likes and views are very skewed because everything can be bought. The success of a song is when I take it to a concert and people sing along,” she said. The singer added that even if listeners do not know a song initially, “true success is when the next time they remember it and ask for it again.”

A heartfelt tune

Arijit Singh

Singer Arijit Singh released his first new song, Raina, following his retirement from playback singing. Arijit, known for tracks such as Channa Mereya, Agar Tum Saath Ho, Raabta, Kesariya, Gerua, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Chaleya, shared the news with a post on his Instagram handle on February 28. The song is composed by Shekhar Ravjiani with lyrics by Priya Saraiya.

Fashioned intimacy for screen

Bhagyashree

Actor Bhagyashree, who rose to fame opposite Salman Khan in Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989), has criticised what she calls the “unnecessary” portrayal of intimacy in today’s cinema. In an interview, she said, “Cinema reflects society. In the 90s, it was the only family outing. Today, mediums have multiplied and choices are many.” While acknowledging the rise of realism, she added, “It is not necessary to show intimacy that makes you squirm while sitting with your parents or children.”
