A minor scare was reported after a large flex billboard collapsed near the main ground on Saturday afternoon, leaving a woman with minor injuries during the ongoing ‘Hind Di Chadar’ programme in Kharghar area of Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra.
According to officials present at the venue, a sudden gust of wind destabilised the flex structure, causing it to fall on a woman standing nearby. The incident briefly created panic among people attending the event.
Quick response by security and medical team
Security staff and volunteers deployed at the programme quickly rushed to the spot and removed the fallen flex board within minutes. The woman was safely pulled out and given immediate medical attention by the on-site medical team.
She suffered minor injuries and was treated with first aid at the venue. An ambulance also reached the location as a precaution. However, hospitalisation was not required as the injuries were not serious and the material of the flex board was lightweight.
Inspection and safety checks
An official supervising the arrangements stated that the billboard fell due to wind pressure and not because of any structural defect.
Following the incident, the company responsible for installing the flex boards, along with local administrative authorities, carried out a thorough inspection of all display structures at the venue to ensure safety standards were being followed.
Officials added that additional checks and reinforcements have been put in place to prevent any similar incident during the remainder of the programme.
