21-year-old arrested for pasting obscene posters in Mumbai local women’s coach

Government Railway Police (GRP) on Wednesday detained a 21-year-old man for putting up obscene posters inside the women’s coach of a Mumbai suburban local train, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The incident came to light on Tuesday, when ‘Rail Madad’ received a complaint about a poster inside coach number 6006A of a local suburban train.

Acting on the complaint, Sub-Inspector Ahikar Bhamre, along with Women Constable Roshni MSF, GRP staff Pawan Kharrate, and cleaning personnel, promptly attended the coach and removed the posters before the train departed for its next destination.

While investigating the matter, the officials, through the Instagram ID displayed on the poster, traced and detained the accused, Kunal Dinesh Dubey (21).

Dubey, who hails from Gorakhpur,  currently resides in Bhagat Singh Motilal Nagar, Goregaon West, and is reported to be employed in body massage services.

The offence has been registered under Section 294 of the Indian Penal Code (obscene acts in public) and Section 3 of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Obscene Matters Act, 1995, at GRP Bandra. Investigation is ongoing.

According to the GRP, CCTV footage of the train was reviewed, and further inquiry through the social media handle Fun_boy87777 helped identify the accused.

Officials further emphasised that such actions are taken seriously, especially by women’s coaches, to ensure the safety and comfort of commuters.

They also assured commuters that surveillance on suburban trains remains a priority and urged the public to report any such incidents immediately to Rail Madad or GRP authorities.
