​Thane-Ghodbunder road closed for repairs till October 14 

The Kasarvadavali Traffic Department on Tuesday issued an important advisory for commuters, as a major section of the Thane-Ghodbunder Road will remain closed for repair work from midnight on October 11 until midnight on October 14. As per the information received by the officials, the affected stretch extends from the Indian Oil Petrol Pump to Nira Kendra.

Amid the ongoing repair works, the affected stretch that runs from the Indian Oil Petrol Pump to Nira Kendra will be shut. According to the Kasarvadavali Traffic Department, vehicles will not be allowed through this section during the repair period. 

The authorities have also warned the citizens that travelling through this route could take 2-3 hours due to the closure and potential congestion on surrounding roads.

Commuters are urged to follow posted detours and use alternate routes to avoid delays. However, in view of easing the traffic congestion in the area, traffic officials have been deployed to guide commuters and manage traffic flow in nearby areas.

The Kasarvadavali Traffic Branch emphasised that public cooperation is essential to ensure smooth traffic management and prevent unnecessary congestion during the repair work. 

Commuters are also encouraged to stay updated on real-time traffic advisories and plan their journeys accordingly.

Earlier on Monday, “The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pankaj Shirsat, while ensuring smooth and safe vehicular movement across the city, also notified about some of the key diversions and road closures. Pankaj Shirsat further said that the diversions and road closures in the area were because of the improvement work that is being carried out. 

Asserting about the road closure and diversions on Thane-Ghodbunder Road, the authorities have put out information about the diversions and closures on the Thane/Mumbai to Ghodbunder Road. 

  • Entry for all heavy vehicles is closed at Y Junction and Kapurbawdi Junction.
  • Alternate Route: Heavy vehicles must proceed via Nashik Road, Kharegaon Toll Plaza, Mankoli, and Anjurphata to reach their destinations.
  • Commuters can also take a right turn near Kapurbawdi Junction and continue via Kasheli and Anjurphata.

From Nashik towards Ghodbunder Road:

  • Entry for heavy vehicles is closed at Mankoli Naka.
  • Alternate Route: Vehicles will take a right turn under Mankoli Bridge and proceed via Anjurphata.
