In a city that never sleeps and slows down, a charmingly titled event called Madeleines and Mahjong, is teasing you for a breather, to relax, sip and recharge. Let’s Mahjong, a mindful gaming community in collaboration with Madeleine de Proust, will be hosting an afternoon filled with tiles, treats and togetherness at Fairmont, Mumbai. It’s an event that promises a blend of ancient gaming rituals with the delicate touch of French biscuits.

The event will be divided into two sessions, a Learner’s Session for beginners, followed by a Player’s Session for seasoned enthusiasts, or those who prefer a competitive edge. It is designed to be more interactive and elegant where delicious madeleines, high tea and the thrill of tiles come together in perfect harmony. Mahjong is a part of the larger movement; it is not just a game but is a mind sport that sharpens memory, strategy and focus.” says Vasudeva.

Mahjong is far more than just a game — it’s a blend of rhythm, intuition, and mindfulness. There’s a meditative flow to it: the tiles unfolding slowly, and players find themselves deeply present. In many ways, that’s what makes Mahjong special; it’s social and soulful. In a world that is always on the run, the session will remind participants to pause, think and reconnect.
What is Mahjong?
Mahjong is a tile-based game that originated in China. It involves players drawing and discarding tiles to create a winning hand, which is similar to the card game Rummy. It is played by two to four players and uses a set of 144 tiles depicting different suits like dots, bamboos, characters, and honours like winds and dragons. The goal is to be the first to form a complete hand of 14 tiles, according to a specific pattern, which is selected from a yearly card.
