​Lake levels in seven reservoirs supplying water to the city at 75.16 per cent 

The water levels in lakes supplying drinking water to Mumbai have risen following heavy rainfall in their catchment areas. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, the combined stock in the seven reservoirs that provide water to the city now stands at 75.16 per cent. The total water stock in the seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai reached 1,087,865 million litres (ML) on Sunday.

Among the reservoirs, Upper Vaitarna recorded a level of 601.80 metres, with a live storage of 172,022 ML, while Modak Sagar and Tansa reported 128,925 ML and 116,653 ML respectively. 

Middle Vaitarna held 179,675 ML of useful content, and Bhatsa, the largest contributor, stored 473,010 ML. Vehar and Tulsi contained 13,478 ML and 4,102 ML, respectively. 

Notably, the combined storage in Upper Vaitarna, Vaitarna, Tansa, and Middle Vaitarna is 597,275 ML, with 85.99 per cent of full storage capacity utilised. The city has received a total rainfall of 730.00 mm this season at the Bhandup Complex, with 18.00 mm recorded on the reporting day. 

Lake level releases and gate operations are also ongoing, including the Upper Vaitarna release that commenced on 5th July and Middle Vaitarna gate openings that began on 7th July.

Mumbai wakes to cloudy skies and a damp breeze

On Sunday, Mumbai is expected to witness a partly cloudy sky with intermittent light rain across the city and its suburbs. While the rainfall is not likely to be intense, residents should remain prepared for occasional showers throughout the day.

The sea conditions will vary, with a high tide of 4.46 metres expected at 13:52 hrs and a low tide of 1.58 metres at 19:57 hrs. Moving into the early hours of 14th July, another high tide of 3.89 metres is predicted at 01:44 hrs, followed by a low tide at 07:26 hrs, measuring 0.74 metres.

Citizens, especially those along the coastline, are advised to take necessary precautions.
