
The Western Railway on Friday announced changes to the reservation chart preparation timings, which will come into effect from July 14, 2025, an official statement said.
It said that the revision is in line with new guidelines issued by the Railway Board and is aimed at improving efficiency and passenger convenience.
The statement said that in accordance with the latest guidelines issued by the Railway Board, the schedule for preparation of reservation charts for Western Railway will be effective from July 14. This initiative aims to streamline operational processes and enhance passenger convenience.
According to a press release issued by the Public Relations Department of Western Railway, in line with the directives received from Railway Board regarding the preparation of first reservation chart the schedule is as under-
– For trains departing between 05:01 hrs and 14:00 hrs, the first reservation chart will be prepared by 21:00 hrs on the previous day.
– For trains departing between 14:01 hrs and 16:00 hrs, the chart will be ready by 07:30 hrs on the same day.
– For trains departing between 16:01 hrs and 23:59 hrs, and those leaving between 00:00 hrs and 05:00 hrs, the chart will be prepared eight hours prior to departure.
“There is no change in the timing of the second reservation chart, which will continue to follow the current system to allow for last-minute bookings,” the official statement said.
It said that the passengers are advised to take note of these changes while checking their booking status before travelling.
Western Railway installs advanced train indicators at Mumbai stations
An another statement issued by Western Railway stated that it has taken an another significant step towards enhancing passenger convenience and modernising its infrastructure by introducing passenger friendly train indicators over Mumbai suburban stations. This initiative has been undertaken as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) works.
According to statement, in a boost to passenger convenience, new state-of-the-art indicators have been installed at Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Jogeshwari, and Malad stations.
With a redesigned visual appearance and upgraded matrix grid display, these indicators offer improved readability and better visibility, making the travel experience more seamless for daily commuters. One of the standout features of these new indicators is the scrolling information line, which dynamically displays the names of stations where the train will halt, providing real-time and easy-to-understand travel information to passengers. The indicators are also multilingual, ensuring effective communication across diverse passenger demographics., it said.
It said that these indicators have been designed with modern technology in mind. The indicators are connected via an Ethernet-based network, enabling centralised monitoring, swift troubleshooting, and customisation from a remote location.
