​Mumbai Metro-1 completes 11 years; records ridership of 111 crore passengers 

The city`s first metro completed 11 years on Saturday.

Opened for commuters on June 8, 2014, the 11-km Mumbai Metro One ( Andheri-Ghatkopar) has witnessed immense growth in various routes. In fact, the Mumbai Metro One, earlier this year said that the growth rate on the route has been faster than expected. 

“With over 111 crores (1.1 billion) commuters ferried till date, Mumbai Metro One has not only redefined how the city moves, but also emerged as one of the country’s most trusted and award-winning mass rapid transit systems,” an official said.

The current weekday ridership of Mumbai Metro One is around 5,00,000 and it operates services with less than three-and-a-half minutes’ frequency during peak hours with 444 trips.
