Actor Shahana Goswami, best known for her performances in films like Heroine, Zwigato, and Santosh, recently opened up about her idea of love. She admitted to being in an open relationship. She also recalled her relationship with Milind Soman and revealed why they parted ways.
Shahana Goswami admits being in an open relationship
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the actress opened up about love and said, “At this point, I don’t even have one primary partner like that. I have many people with whom I have long-standing dynamics, but it’s not casual. None of it is casual for me. We all have a lot of friends. Every friendship is different.”
She further said, “So for me, at this point, openness means there’s no clear-cut partnership with anyone, but there is this feeling of long-term bonding and connection that stays with you, no matter what form it takes. Sometimes it’s just friendship. Sometimes it might be physical too. There’s no need to force it into some specific direction. The baseline is simple: love and friendship. A friend means someone you have a human-level love for, that’s what they are to you.”

She also shared details about her relationship with Milind Soman and recalled being completely mesmerised by him after watching one of his films as a teenager. Curious to connect with him, she searched for his contact details online and eventually got his cellphone number through his answering machine. The actress revealed that they stayed in touch through text messages for nearly six years without ever speaking on calls.
Shahana described herself as a “stalker fan” but clarified that her admiration was more about connecting with him as a person. Years later, when both were single, she messaged him again, and the two eventually started dating before calling it quits in 2013. Milind was 43, and Shahana was in her 20s back then.
“It`s just about timing. Till the very end, we were in love with each other. When you see that a relationship is not able to sync, you have to let it go,” she shared.
Currently, Milind is married to Ankita Konwar, who is 26 years younger than him.
Shahana’s work front
Shahana was last seen in the ZEE5 film Despatch, which was released in 2024. It also featured Manoj Bajpayee in a key role. Apart from this, she gained attention when her film Santosh received international acclaim. However, its India release was stalled due to scenes concerning police brutality, caste discrimination, misogyny, and Islamophobia.
