In the last 10 days, the petrol price in Mumbai City has been fluctuating between Rs 103.50 and Rs 107.59. The petrol price is inclusive of Maharashtra state taxes.

Even if the war has temporarily stopped or eased, call it temporary or permanent, it is important to keep people first. As an immediate step, both the state and central governments must cut tax on petrol and pass on some relief to people/commuters.
Certain austerity measures, most revolving around fuel, are proposed.
This is not to sound alarmist, but when a prime minister of a country tells people to adopt some fuel-saving measures, etc., maybe something big is going to happen. While car pooling is possible, it is good if people who know each other come together and set up car pooling. I recall that the WIAA had, under the leadership of businessman Ram Gandhi, started a car pooling initiative 40 years ago. The initiative told people to call in at a particular, dedicated number, and it would connect people going to roughly the same area at similar times.
Public transport can be an alternative…
The government, in parallel to increasing petrol prices, must make executive buses. This is a good time for the BEST bus services to have better frequency, maybe more routes. Let us see the big red step up as it has so often in the past in times of crisis.
