A fire broke out in a Mahavitaran electric transformer at Patlipada Service Road on Ghodbunder Road in Thane (West). As per the officials, the blaze was brought under control by fire brigade personnel during the early hours of Sunday, May 17.
According to the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), the incident was reported at approximately 12:10 am on Sunday by the Kopri Fire Station. The blaze erupted in a Mahavitaran transformer located along the busy Patlipada Service Road area.
Soon after receiving the information about the blaze, fire brigade teams rushed to the spot along with a rescue vehicle. Mahavitaran employees were also present at the site and coordinated with emergency responders to manage the situation.
Firefighters acted promptly and successfully extinguished the blaze by around 12:30 am, preventing the fire from spreading further or causing significant damage to nearby infrastructure.
No injuries reported
Officials further confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. The situation was declared fully under control shortly after the fire was doused.
Authorities are expected to assess the cause of the fire, while power department officials continue to inspect the affected transformer and restore normalcy in the area.
Fire breaks out at furniture warehouse in Thane
In a similar case, earlier on May 14, a fire broke out at a wooden furniture warehouse in the Bhatti Galli area of Shil in Diva, Thane district, officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell said.
According to information received from the Shil Fire Station, the incident was reported at around 8:10 am on May 14. The fire erupted in a warehouse storing wooden cupboards and plywood materials.
The warehouse, owned by Abid Khan, was spread across nearly 900 square feet.
Firefighters deploy engines and rescue vehicles.
Station Officer Sarnobat and personnel from the Shil Fire Station rushed to the spot with two fire engines and one rescue vehicle to contain the blaze.
Officials said no injuries were reported in the incident.
Materials inside the warehouse were completely destroyed.
The fire caused extensive damage to the warehouse, with all materials stored inside being completely gutted.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control and fully extinguished it at around 11:01 am. Authorities said the situation is now under control.
