Ranveer Singh`s blockbuster film Dhurandhar: The Revenge began streaming on Netflix internationally from May 14, even as Indian audiences eagerly wait for it to be released in India.
It arrived on overseas OTT eight weeks after its theatrical release. The version is streaming internationally as Dhurandhar: The Revenge – Raw and Uncut, and as per reports, it has amped up the gore and violence way beyond what was shown theatrically.
Dhurandhar 2`s uncut version has more gore
Fans who have watched the international version are claiming that it is far darker than the CBFC-cleared theatrical version, offering a more bloody, brutal and action-packed viewing experience.
The Lyari Gang War portions are said to be far more intense, containing longer stretches of action which include disturbing visuals and added brutality that deepens the film’s gritty underworld atmosphere.
The raw cut restores several scenes that were trimmed for theatres. The most exciting addition is Ranveer Singh`s character Jaskirat playing football with the severed head of Arshad Pappu.
Other graphic sequences include the opening sequence of Jaskirat’s rampage, which has a scene of him bashing a man with a hammer. Similarly, the climax at Muridke, where Jaskirat crushes a man’s head with a cement block, is also retained. Many cuss words that were earlier censored are left intact in the raw version.
This has amped up the excitement among Indian fans, who cannot wait to see the extended version and watch the uncensored graphic violence.
About Dhurandhar 2`s Indian OTT release
In India, the film is set to release on the OTT platform JioHotstar and not Netflix.
The actual release date has not been announced due to an ongoing IP rights case. However, JioHotstar posted a new teaser of the film on its X account, with the caption “Exploding soon,” hinting that it will be released soon.
However, as per reports, the streaming version in India is expected to be the same as the theatrical cut, toned down as per the CBFC`s approval.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller stars Ranveer Singh in the lead alongside Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles. The film created history at the box office with its phenomenal run.
It chronicles a long-running Indian intelligence mission in which an undercover operative adopts the identity of a Baloch man, Hamza Ali Mazari (Singh), and infiltrates Pakistan`s criminal underworld with the objective of dismantling a terror network targeting India.
