​Thane man dies after motorbike-truck collision; ambulance delayed by traffic 

A 29-year-old man died after a truck collided with his motorbike and the ambulance rushing him to hospital got stuck in traffic in Maharashtra`s Thane district, police said on Tuesday, reported news agency PTI.

The incident occurred late Monday evening at Nimbavli Naka in Bhiwandi area, they said.

The victim, identified as engineer Vinod Patil, who worked with a company in Vashind, was returning home to Kasheli village on his motorbike when a truck knocked him down, reported PTI.

The victim fell down and was crushed by the truck, an official from Bhiwandi Taluka police station said.

He was wearing the helmet, which was crushed in the accident, the official said.

After being alerted, police reached the spot, pulled the victim from below the truck and rushed him to the hospital in an ambulance, reported PTI.

But the ambulance got stuck midway in a heavy traffic jam on the Thane-Bhiwandi road and the man died, the official said, reported PTI.

The body was later sent to a government hospital for a postmortem.

A case was registered against the truck driver, who is at large, under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, the police said, reported PTI.

Car crashes into tunnel wall on Mumbai`s Coastal Road; none hurt

In another incident, a speeding car crashed into tunnel wall on the Coastal Road in Mumbai on Monday night, a police official said, reported PTI.

No one was injured in the accident which took place on the north-bound section of the Coastal Road, an eight-lane expressway along Mumbai`s western coastline, he said, reported PTI.

According to the official, the red car crashed into the right wall of the Coastal Road tunnel towards Worli.

After the accident, a passer-by captured a video showing the vehicle with airbags deployed and emergency lights on, reported PTI.

In the video, a youth is seen exiting the driver`s seat, while another passenger is in the front seat. A third occupant, a woman, is seen standing near the vehicle after the crash.

Earlier, a speeding Porsche car crashed into a road divider, injuring its two occupants, while apparently racing another high-end vehicle on a highway in Mumbai early on Thursday, police said, reported PTI.

The incident took place at around 2 am on the Western Express Highway near Jogeshwari, they said.

The speeding Porsche car, with two persons on board, was apparently racing a BMW car when the driver lost control of the wheels and it crashed into a road divider beneath Mogra Metro station, a Jogeshwari police official said, reported PTI.
