
In an unfortunate incident at Thane, a fire broke out during the late hours of Monday. The incident happened at the popular eatery Walk and Grill Express, located on the ground floor of Abhijeet Society, Dada Patil Wadi, Thane (W).
According to the authorities, the incident was initially reported at 12:05 am on October 14 by local public representative Mr Sanjay Waghule. As per the preliminary information provided by the authorities, the fire originated from a microwave oven inside the shop owned by Rupesh Malabari. Soon, the small fire turned into a massive mishap, causing a ruckus all around the locality.
Responding swiftly to the alert, the authorities and all the concerned departments rushed to the spot. The Thane Fire Brigade and the Disaster Management Cell also reached the scene with one fire vehicle and one pickup vehicle. With their coordinated efforts, the fire was completely extinguished at around 12:20 am, ensuring that the situation remained under control.
While addressing the fire incident, the officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported during the incident. The quick response of the fire brigade and disaster management personnel played a crucial role in preventing the fire from spreading to the seven-storey residential building above the shop.
Officials from the Sumaras Fire Disaster Management said that the fire was localised to the microwave oven and was controlled efficiently.”
Massive fire at Ghatkopar
At least six persons were injured, while 280 others were rescued after a fire erupted in a nine-storey business park housing offices in the Ghatkopar area of Mumbai on Monday. The fire, which erupted at around 2:35 PM in the Goldcrest building located on LBS Road near Shreyas Talkies, was doused after more than four hours at around 7 pm, as reported by PTI.
According to officials, the smoke generated from the fire got inside the electric duct on the ground floor and spread to higher storeys.
While several people rushed out safely, some got stuck. Fire Brigade personnel and other agencies safely rescued 280 people stuck on the terrace of the building through the stairs, officials added, according to the PTI.
At least six individuals sustained injuries as they jumped out of the windows of the building in panic, officials said.
