Senior actor Sarathkumar, who was last seen in the hit Tamil film Dude, has expressed his wish to work with Deepika Padukone. The actor revealed his desire to be paired opposite the Pathaan star on screen while speaking at the success press event for Dude, starring Pradeep Ranganatha and Mamitha Baiju. The film earned Rs 100 crore worldwide in just six days of its release.
Sarathkumar wishes to work with Deepika Padukone
Following the success of Dude, the cast and crew gathered for a press meet. At the event, Sarathkumar playfully suggested to the producers of Dude, Mythri Movie Makers, to cast him opposite Deepika Padukone in their next venture.
The actor highlighted how Dude’s success has earned him a new set of fans. “Pradeep’s fans also started liking me. They call me ‘Dude.’ So I became a dude too,” he said. Building on that thought, he added, “If Naveen sir or Ravi sir think of making Deepika Padukone my heroine in the next film and putting on a duet, I am ready to do it.”
Sarathkumar also reminded the press of his role opposite Aishwarya Rai in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan films. “I have even played Aishwarya Rai’s husband. Don’t feel jealous about it. It’s only on occasions like this that you can ask. Think about it. If you think there are no more beautiful people than them, think about it and decide. Decide who you want as my heroine. Let’s get Sai (Abhyankar) to do the song. Let’s also seek Pradeep’s advice,” he said, drawing laughter from the crowd.
What is the age gap between Deepika and Sarathkumar?
Sarathkumar’s statement sparked conversation about the significant age difference between the two actors. While Sarathkumar is 71, Deepika Padukone is 39 years old.
This is not the first time Sarathkumar has expressed his wish to work with the Bollywood star. Back in 2023, in an interview with Sun Music, he had named Deepika when asked about his ideal co-star for a love story.
