Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly received a serious extortion threat demanding Rs 10 crore, prompting swift action from the Mumbai Police. According to officials, a threatening voice note was sent to the WhatsApp number of the actor’s manager. The message is suspected to be linked to the Bishnoi gang and is believed to have originated from a phone number registered in the United States.

Police sources revealed that the voice note contained a demand for Rs 10 crore along with an explicit warning. An officer involved in the probe said, “We have received information about a threatening voice message demanding money. The matter is being verified and investigated.” Authorities are now working to trace the origin of the number and identify the person behind the call.
Preliminary findings suggest that the voice in the message may belong to a known associate of the gang. However, officials have stressed that forensic examination is still underway to confirm the identity. “We are analysing the audio clip and coordinating with concerned agencies to track the source of the number,” a senior officer stated. Investigators are also exploring international channels to gather details linked to the US based contact.
Police begin investigation on the case
Despite the seriousness of the threat, police clarified that a formal FIR has not yet been registered. Instead, a preliminary enquiry has been initiated to assess the credibility of the message. “Once we establish the authenticity and gather sufficient evidence, appropriate legal action will follow,” an official added.
In the meantime, security around Ranveer Singh has been tightened as a precautionary measure. Sources confirmed that additional protection has been arranged at his residence and during public appearances. The actor has not issued any public statement regarding the incident so far.
The case has once again highlighted concerns about security for high profile celebrities. Authorities have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure Ranveer’s safety and to identify those responsible for issuing the alleged threat.
