Mumbai: Fire breaks out in Dharavi, halts trains between Mahim and Bandra

A major fire broke out on Sunday at the Navrang Compound near Mahim Fatak, close to the Sion–Mahim Link Road in Dharavi, officials said.

Fire engines from Dadar, BKC, Bandra and Shivaji Park fire stations were rushed to the spot to contain the blaze. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage are yet to be determined.

The site is located close to railway tracks, leading to disruptions in traffic on the 60-Feet Road as firefighting operations continue.

Western Railway services have also been affected as the flames spread near the tracks. “Five trains have been regulated and are currently waiting between Mahim and Bandra stations. There have been no injuries to anyone so far,” a Western Railway spokesperson said.

Railway authorities and fire officials are closely monitoring the situation.
