A shocking incident has come to light in Charkop, where the police arrested three accused for raping a 15-year-old. The accused include the mother, an auto driver and a stepfather, who allegedly raped his daughter. The mother has been accused of forcing the child into prostitution.
On the complaint of the survivor, the Charkop Police registered a case and booked and arrested the three accused. “The matter came to light after the survivor’s mother lodged a missing complaint with the Charkop police about her daughter’s sudden disappearance five days ago. Acting under the guidance of DCP Anand Bhoite Zone 11, and Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Chauhan, the Charkop police initiated an investigation and traced the girl’s location through her mobile number,” said a police officer.
A police team then proceeded to Nallasopara, located her, and brought her to the police station for inquiry. During questioning, the girl broke down in tears and revealed the ordeal she had faced, said an officer. The survivor revealed that she had been residing with her 37-year-old mother and 28-year-old stepfather in Charkop. She told the police that she had been raped multiple times by the stepfather in the past 6-7 months, while her mother was allegedly forcing her into prostitution work.
She said her mother used to book clients and send her to various hotels at Mira Road and Virar, and used to charge the clients R1200. The 55-year-old auto driver supposedly drove her to the various hotels and allegedly also forcibly raped her multiple times. “The victim hid at her friend’s home in Nalasopara,” said an officer. “We have registered a case under various sections of BNS including rape, and POCSO,” said an officer. The trio were produced before the court today and remanded to police custody, the officer added.
