On November 4, Allkpop reported that the Thai-born K-pop sensation is being considered for the title role of Rapunzel in Disney`s planned live-action remake of “Tangled.”
According to the source, Lisa has emerged as a strong contender after Disney`s live-action adaptation of “Snow White,” which starred Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, failed to reach box office sales projections. In an effort to relaunch its fairytale franchise, the firm is apparently looking for a new global face who can attract audiences and create revenue, and Lisa`s global appeal fits the criteria.
Other names rumoured to be in the running include Florence Pugh and Sydney Sweeney. Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson, a Hollywood actress, has apparently been cast as Mother Gothel, the monster who imprisons Rapunzel in her tower.
All about Tangled
The “Tangled” project was originally halted after early casting efforts failed, but it has since restarted development. Michael Gracey, the director of “The Greatest Showman,” is attached to the film, although Disney has yet to confirm more production specifics or comment officially on casting.
Lisa made her acting debut earlier this year in Season 3 of HBO`s acclaimed series “The White Lotus,” portraying the character Mook in a supporting role that garnered plaudits for her natural performance. She is also scheduled to participate in Netflix`s upcoming action thriller “Extraction: Tiger.”
