Some stories stay etched in our minds forever. Take Office Office — the cult bureaucratic satire starring Pankaj Kapur. Now imagine its sequel arriving 25 years later. The excitement audiences may feel is exactly what actor Shruti Sharma is experiencing as she headlines Office Office 2.

Currently shooting for the show, which premières on Doordarshan and streams on Waves OTT from Monday (May 25), Sharma tells mid-day, “The memories of Office Office are close to my heart. Every day after school I used to watch it while having lunch with my mom. Because of that, I remember all the characters, their nuances, and famous hook lines perfectly. So when I started shooting for the new season, it felt nostalgic. I grew up watching this show, and now playing the lead in it feels surreal.”

Sharma plays the daughter of Mussaddi Lal, the character essayed by Kapur in the original. While the sequel introduces a fresh cast, the actor hopes her comic timing strikes a chord with viewers. “Getting the prime-time slot is an achievement. I hope the audience will enjoy this the same way I enjoyed the first edition. I hope I can also become some child’s favourite comedy show character with this season.”
